LAMBUSSIE-KARNI CONFIRMS BALIGI

Story: Chris Nunoo, Lambushie

MEMBERS of the newly created Lambussie-Karni District in the Upper West Region have confirmed the president’s nominee, Mr Yelvieledong B. Baligi, 32, as the chief executive.
At a special assembly meeting, Mr Baligi polled 20 of the total votes cast by the 20 assembly members present.
With spontaneous cheers, the members jumped and mobbed Mr Baligi amidst pouring of powder on his head when the electoral officer, Mr Jackson Annoh, announced the results.
In an acceptance speech, Mr Baligi who is a professional teacher, expressed his profound gratitude to President Kufuor for the honour done him and pledged to work tirelessly with the members to develop the district.
He, therefore, urged the people to unite as they could not develop without peace and unity, adding that they must be selfless and remain committed to the cause of the assembly.
